There’s a first for everything right? After five years of being a professional elopement photographer this is the first time I’ve sat down to do a complete year in review. It’s a daunting task to pick some of my all time favorite photos and moments of the year.. especially when you have a pretty rad job like mine that I’m insanely passionate about. I still get butterflies before and after every single elopement so getting to go through all of these photos again just made my heart burst.

But first, let’s recap 2022. 2022 was my first full year of business while being a mother to a human! I was a full time dog mom to our two pup babies for all of the years before but I must admit a human is a little bit more work.. or a lot haha! I have to admit that I was nervous thinking about running this business of mine while simultaneously keeping another human alive but guess what? I freaking did it and I think I had my best year of business yet. 

Motherhood has taught me a new perspective of this world and that has drastically changed my eye for photography in the best way. My work transformed into true storytelling this year and I found a photography motto that I feel deeply rooted to:

“The raw & real, the seen & unseen”

My wedding galleries this year truly reflect a mix of very documentary moments as well as the big epic moments. I find equal value in both types of photos when it comes to wedding photography because I think its the truest way to document an elopement adventure. While every couple has their own personal reasons for eloping I’ve found the common denominator for every couple is this.They value the deeply personal and raw moments, as well as those heartracing, hell yeah moments. 

That’s what eloping is all about.

My love for photography is truly on fire again. When the sun begins to set is when I truly thrive! Blue hour and star photos have been my consistent favorites of each gallery (and I had to really contain myself to not fill this entire blog post with them!). 

Beyond motherhood and photography, this year was filled with a lot of traveling, homesteading, Survivor, baking, and really finding out who I am. 

Our trip to Iceland and Norway was a huge highlight. We embarked on an epic two week long trip which included a 7 day van life stint on the Ring Road in Iceland. We celebrated 5 YEARS of marriage and decided to renew our vows under a waterfall with our little seven month old (and two best friends) in tow. It felt amazing to celebrate our commitment to each other in a place that means so much to us. We are already dying to get back to these epic countries.

To each of my couples that I had the pleasure of working with this year- thank you from the bottom of my heart. I value each and every one of you and the friendships we now share! I’ll remember your best days for the rest of my life!
