Sedona, Arizona is one of the rare locations in the country where you can elope in the winter and still have warm and golden photos. December is a great month to come visit this small desert town to experience less crowds than the busier seasons of spring and fall but still have epic views and adventure. This couple ditched the dreary Midwest to experience Arizona’s sunshine in December and we had the best adventure!
We are big lovers of winter elopements around here since it’s off season for tourism. Off season elopements means less traffic and hikers, more vendor availability (the good ones book up FAST), more affordable travel accommodations, and for people who prefer slightly cooler weather it’s super comfortable for hiking.
If you want to visit and elope in December in Sedona we suggest sticking to the first half of the month. The days around the holidays are very busy with tourists from all over the country so we like to avoid the week between Christmas and New Years- just trust us!
Most days are sunny but this is the start to winter storm season! We may get a few days out of the month where we experience rain or a light dusting of snow. The average highs are in the 50s and lows in the 30s.
We are extremely experienced in all types of weather, including winter weather! We create backup plans for all elopements so no matter what the weather forecast says, we’ll make sure your adventure goes off without a hitch!

We loved this sunny adventure elopement where we stopped at two locations. The first for their ceremony which overlooked iconic spots like Bell Rock and Courthouse Vista. There wasn’t another soul in sight which made their ceremony extra intimate!
After their ceremony we headed off to hike around some of the best spots in town. This couple loved the vastness of this location and all of the variety that it offered. The bride’s dress really soaked up the red rock dust and it turned out beautiful!
We ended the day with a sunset hike and took our time to sit and watch the sky turn all the shades of orange and pink. This couple decided to not have any guests (besides us!!!) on their day so they could have intentional quality time. As you can see they definitely got that!
One perk of eloping with us is that you get next day professional photo previews! That means you can show your loved ones during the holidays if you elope in the first half of December!
