Adventure Elopement Portraits at Hatcher Pass, Alaska |Valerie & Elijah

This August I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful state of Alaska with my husband as a little vacation before he started school back up and before wedding season hit me full force. While there I got to meet Valerie and Elijah and do an adventure elopement portrait session at Hatcher Pass! Alaska is the absolute perfect location for an adventure elopement if you love mountains, lakes, and beautiful forests! Hatcher Pass quickly became our favorite spot in Alaska as we drove up the mountain in our Cruise America RV.

Hatcher Pass is less than an hour outside of Anchorage and is the perfect location for your elopement in the mountains. One thing I wish we did was stay in the cutest log cabins in Hatcher Pass! They seemed so cozy and perfect to stay in after hiking! We had just missed the peak of wildflower season, but instead saw beautiful fall colors and some blueberries! My favorite part about Hatcher Pass is the jagged mountain range that is in the background. Words cannot describe the beauty!! 

Valerie and Elijah were SO much fun to shoot with and we all quickly became great friends! We even got to grab some beers in Anchorage and do some hiking in Girdwood the next day! I’ve come to the conclusion that Alaskans are the nicest people ever! I truly felt so at home thanks to all of the kind people that we ran into on this trip. 

A storm rolled in just as we began our session in Hatcher Pass, but Valerie and Elijah stuck through it like troopers! The clouds brought the perfect moody and romantic element to this adventure elopement! This is why you shouldn’t be afraid of a little bit of rain on your wedding day! It can bring a whole different and beautiful vibe! 

I truly will never forget this fun adventure elopement session in the mountains! I’m definitely ready to come back to photograph more adventure elopements in Alaska!! Who’s with me!?
