Planning a wedding can be stressful, especially if you are coming from out of town and you aren’t familiar with an area. As a Sedona local I love to help engaged couples have a stress-free experience in the red rocks. Picking a venue is one of the most important parts of your wedding day so make sure you do lots of your own research after reading this guide.
Here are the 5 most important things to consider when picking a wedding venue:
Pro Tip: Plan a wedding in the off-season or on a weekday to save money! Peak wedding season here in the red rocks are Spring and Fall. Venues will fill up quickly on the weekends during these months. Weekday weddings are typically a fraction of the price and more vendors may be available. Try having your wedding on a Friday or Monday!
I want you as our wedding photographer!
Red Agave Resort is one of my favorite venues to photograph at! This wedding venue has a more laid back, right in the red rocks kind of feel. There are beautiful views of Bell Rock and Courthouse butte. Trails run right through the grounds so you and your guests can easily go on an adventure! Another great highlight of this venue is that it is dog-friendly. No need to leave your pup at home. This resort requires for the entire resort to be rented for more than 30 guests. A great part about this is that you can celebrate with your guests beyond just your wedding day. I’ve had couples in the past throw a welcome celebration the day before and then a goodbye brunch the following day.
Venue Features: Red rock views, courtyard with garden, pool and fire pits, A-frame cabins
Pricing: Beginning at $5000
Guest Amounts: Up to 100 guests
Sky Ranch Lodge is another one of my favorite venues in town. This ceremony location has an incredible, scenic overlook backdrop. The grounds of the venues have gorgeous desert landscape with huge agave plants, as well as green garden. Your guests can stay right at the lodge, making it easy to celebrate! One of my favorite parts of this venue is that it is close to a trail that is perfect for a mini adventure portrait session. It’s a great way to escape from your guests for a little bit to watch the sunset privately (and get some incredible photos while you’re at it!). This venue has many different wedding packages, perfect for any size weddings. You can even host your elopement here if you need an easy to access location.
Venue Features: Panoramic red rock views, desert landscape, garden
Pricing: $5,000- $46,000
Guest Amounts: Up to 150 guests
This is one of the venues in Arizona that doesn’t look like you are in Arizona at all! Orchard Canyon sits right besides oak creek, amongst the trees. The property features some red rock views in the distance, but the green grounds and rustic cabins are the highlight. Most ceremonies take place in the orchard and receptions can be outdoors or indoors. One of my favorite parts about this venue is that it feels like you are transformed to the Pacific Northwest! If you aren’t looking for a typical desert wedding venue, this may be your spot. As of recently this venue has paired up with Cloth & Flame to provide a more all inclusive package. I’ve worked with Cloth & Flame dozens of times over the years and their work is truly beautiful and luxurious!
Venue Features: Forest, Creek, Orchard, Garden
Pricing: Unknown
Guest Amounts: Up to 50 guests
Tlaquepaque is a popular outdoor market in Sedona that also doubles as a venue wedding when the sun goes down. It is inspired by a traditional Mexican village with cobblestone streets, fountains, and art and charm! Your wedding will look right out of a storybook at this venue! This venue is unique in that it is a public space as well so you will not have complete privacy and they only offer shorter hour packages. This could be a good option if you want to have an intimate ceremony on a trail and then come to Tlaquepaque to meet up with loved ones to celebrate.
Venue Features: unique, charm, rustic
Pricing: $1000-$5000
Guest Amounts: Up to 100 guests
Destination at Oak Creek is a 2.5 acre property right in between Sedona and Flagstaff. This property has 10 modern cabins, as well as a beautiful lawn with the sound of the creek in the background. It’s a simple venue that gives a backyard feel for weddings. This is a great option if you are looking for a more affordable option where your loved ones can all stay in one area. In the past we have had a couple have an intimate ceremony on a trail and their reception dinner at this venue!
Venue Features: greenery, creek
Pricing: Starts at $1500
Guest Amounts: Up to 80 guests
Sedona has some of the best Airbnbs and VRBO’s in America so of course couples consider having their weddings at one! This can be a lot trickier than going through an actual wedding venue. The Airbnb website officially does not allow weddings but most private residences have their homes listed on multiple websites, including ones that do allow for weddings or celebrations. If you find a large Airbnb or VRBO that is open to having celebrations make sure you message them to chat about your wedding plans. In most cases it would only be appropriate to have a wedding with less than 50 guests. You can expect a private residence to charge at least $1000 per night, as well as other fees and deposits. Most will not include tables and chairs so take that into consideration while planning!
On my exclusive Guide to Sedona that is sent to all of my wedding couples I have all of my favorite private residences that have allowed weddings in the past 🙂
