Page, Arizona/Lake Powell is one of the best places in the country for an adventurous elopement! If you love all things desert and outdoorsy, then Page is the perfect place for your wedding adventure. Planning your Page elopement doesn’t have to be stressful. I’ve compiled an entire guide to help you plan your Page and Lake Powell elopement with ease so you can enjoy every step of the process.
This is everything you need to know for planning your Page elopement from a local’s perspective. From the best hikes, what time of year, my favorite local vendors, Page/Lake Powell elopement packages, and everything in between.
We are firm believers that Page, Arizona and Lake Powell are one of the BEST spots to explore in the southwest! You can’t beat the epic desert meeting the gorgeous water. From the huge cliffs, to the epic slot canyons, and all of the adventures in-between, you’re bound to find an incredible spot for your adventurous wedding experience! Along with that, there are tons of different things to do. One of the best parts of getting married in Page or Lake Powell is that there are tons of off-the-beaten-path locations where you can have the whole spot to yourselves- which can be hard to find in Arizona or Utah! We love to explore this place and we know that you and your babe will too!
Winters in the desert probably look different than what you are used to, but in a good way! This is our personal favorite time to explore Page and Lake Powell due to the less crowds and more comfortable weather. A Page/Lake Powell winter means highs in the 40s-50s sunny most days. Bring your layers and embrace the cooler red rock desert with less tourists! I wouldn’t recommend a winter elopement if you’re planning on doing activities on the lake since it will be pretty chilly!
Spring in Page is always a dream for warmer weather (highs in the 60s-80s), blooming flowers, and clear skies. Spring is windy season in Page so be prepared for the gusts, otherwise it’s beautiful weather. Weekends start to become busy with tourists, but in general this is an amazing time to elope in the Page desert! This is also the time that being on the lake is incredible! By late spring, the weather is perfect for being on the water!
Summer in Page means warmer temperatures in the 100s and daily rainstorms called monsoons that can produce dangerous flash flooding and lightning. This is super important to consider if you want to explore slot canyons. We recommend sticking away from July and August for an elopement here for safety reasons!
By far one of the most popular seasons for Page/Lake Powell elopements! The weather is perfect (not too hot, not too cold) with highs in the 60s-80s. September and October are by far the busiest months in this tiny town so I always recommend couples to stay away from eloping on the weekends. In general, I recommend November as the perfect month to elope for perfect weather and less crowds if you’re wanting to explore canyons. I’d recommend September if you’re wanting Lake Powell activities!
Glen Canyon Recreational Area: Glen Canyon is basically the entire area of Lake Powell! They do require a national park pass, so make sure you bring your annual pass or you’ll have to pay for a week pass. This is where you’ll be able to access the lake, go camping, and go hiking!
Horseshoe Bend: This is by far one of the most iconic spots in Page, Arizona! The epic horseshoe shaped bend in the canyon can be seen by a short hike of 1.25 mile hike. This is a popular and BUSY location- don’t let the secluded photos fool you! If you’re wanting an intimate elopement experience, this may not be the location for you. The best time to experience less crowds is at sunrise, but sunsets at Horseshoe Bend are pretty unforgettable.
Canyon Overlook: There are a few off-the-beaten-path canyon overlook locations around Page and Lake Powell that are perfect for an elopement. Some require short hikes, others require some off-roading. Either way, you’re sure to have some epic views!
Slot Canyons: Page, AZ is known around the world for having some of the most beautiful slot canyons. Slot canyons in this area require a Navajo Guide to ensure safety and preservation of these sacred canyons. We can help connect you to the best companies to go through for your elopement experience!
Wahweap Area: This southern section of Lake Powell is so gorgeous to explore! There are only a handful of hikes around it so it’s best to explore it by water, either by paddleboard or boat! We’ve found some incredible vistas in this area that make for the prettiest background for an adventure wedding!
