I am so stoked to be sharing this gorgeous rainy wedding at the Cabins on Strawberry Hill in Strawberry, Arizona! It was a day filled with lots of happy tears, thunder and lightning, and dancing in the pouring rain. Saying it was fun is an understatement!
I had the opportunity to get to know Lauren and Mitchell leading up to the wedding day because I was also able to shoot their engagement session! Working with Lauren and Mitchell allowed for me to have a session unlike any other I have had before! Mitchell is a pilot instructor and he flew us in a small private plane all the way to Williams, Arizona. It was one of the best experiences of my photography career. I am so pleased with how their session turned out! If you would like to see their unconventional and awesome photos click HERE.
I was communicating with Lauren and Mitchell early on in their engagement, and was excited for the big day! The wedding was held in Strawberry, Arizona at the Cabins on Strawberry Hill. A factor that makes this location perfect for a wedding is the ability to rent out cabins leading up to and after the day of the event. This couple was able to enjoy this celebration of love with close friends and family members for multiple days. This is such a cool way to really bring in the entire experience.
When their wedding day finally came a huge monsoon rolled through The Cabins on Strawberry Hill. It was one of my rainiest weddings. Lauren and Mitchell seemed unphased by the need to postpone the ceremony by about half an hour. They were calm and did not mind the summer rain because all they cared about was getting married. I admired their reaction to the minor set back and it just shows how powerful their love is and that no monsoon can stand in their way!
One of my favorite moments about shooting at the Cabins on Strawberry Hill was capturing the couples first look. It was different than most because it was in this moment that they shared their vows to one another. Nobody else was present, other than me, and with the absence of others their vows were intimate to one another. Both were emotional and these important messages somehow seemed so much more personal!
Twinkling lights decorate the Cabins on Strawberry Hill and deep colors of burgundy and black blended so gracefully into the deep forest. Lena’s Flowers and Catering did an amazing job supplying the event with lively fresh flowers and I can not forget to mention the fact that their dogs were in the wedding, which as a dog mom, I loved! Despite rainfall, everyone danced until the music stopped playing thanks to Impact DJ! This forest wedding was magical and filled with warmth and love!
