One of the best parts about eloping in Arizona is that the weather is beautiful year around! Let’s chat about what time of year could be best for your wedding.
Believe it or not, Sedona DOES get a real winter! Anytime between December and March there may be a light dusting of snow on the red rock mountains. Don’t be afraid though! This is one of my favorite times to photograph elopements in Sedona due to there being significantly less tourists, cheaper lodging, and moody skies! A Sedona winter means highs in the 50s or 60s, sunny most days with the occasional dusting of snow or rain. Bring your layers and embrace the cooler red rock desert with no crowds!
We have been a part of dozens of winter elopements and every year is different from the previous. We know not every couple is down for freezing cold rain or snow so we block off an extra date for winter elopements in case of rescheduling!
Want to have the highest chance of experiencing Snowdona? Stick to a January or February elopement for your best chance.
March is the biggest toss up month when it comes to weather. Some days it feels like spring while others there is snow on the ground! It’s also spring break season so it’s the busiest month of the year with traffic.
February is our personal favorite month for elopements in Sedona!
Spring in Sedona is always a dream for warmer weather (highs in the 70s-80s), blooming flowers, and clear skies. Spring is windy season in Sedona so be prepared for the gusts, otherwise it’s beautiful weather. Weekends start to become busy with tourists, but in general this is an amazing time to elope in the Sedona desert!
Like I previously mentioned, March is spring break season so you can expect more traffic on trails and in town. Don’t worry if this is your dream wedding month- I have my secret spots in town to suggest!
April is my busiest month of the spring by far. The weather is mild and perfect if you want your day to stay below 80 degrees. Dates always go quickly and vendors book up so don’t hesitate to inquire now!
May is my personal favorite spring month because the wildflowers are blooming everywhere on the trails and there is less traffic than the previous months!
Summer in Sedona isn’t necessarily the greatest time of year for a wedding adventure. Summers in the desert include monsoons (daily rain storms) that can produce dangerous flash flooding and lightning and warmer temperatures in the 100s with humidity. Trails tend to be busier, especially during sunrise and sunset. One of the perks is the epic cotton candy colored sunsets that happen almost every night. If you’re okay with some rain and heat, it could make for a fun adventure! We specifically do not book elopements from June 16th – September 8th in Sedona since the heat can be dangerous to not only our couples, but ourselves.
Check out this early June elopement that was absolutely gorgeous!
If you’re okay with some warmth then let’s chat about your beginning of June or September elopement!
By far one of the most popular seasons for Sedona elopements! The weather is perfect (not too hot, not too cold) with highs in the 60s-80s.
September can be on the warmer side but we get notably incredible sunsets! I can remember some of the BEST sunsets I’ve ever experienced being in September.
October is the busiest month in the second half of the year but for good reason. The weather is absolutely gorgeous and very comfortable. If you’re a sucker for fall leaf peeping you can drive up to Flagstaff to see the golden aspen or be in Sedona the last week of the month.
November is when it starts to cool down but this means less tourists! The first half of the month is still super comfortable and great for exploring. This is our personal favorite fall month for elopements!
